KINGSTON FARM AND GARDEN CO-OP

TOOLS FOR LOAN

TOOL USE FREE TO CO-OP MEMBERS
although a small donation to the Co-op is suggested, so we can cover any expenses
in maintaining and replacing tools, and eventually acquire more tools. (A tractor would be nice...)
At this time, most "loaner" tools are available to Co-op members ONLY. (Live traps are the exception.)

The majority of the tools are owned by Co-op members, not by the Co-op.
When you borrow a tool, be sure you ask how to use it.
After that, out of consideration to those members generous enough to offer the use of their tools,
be aware that you use the tools at your own risk.

TOOLS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:
BEE KEEPING
  • Roger has a manual-crank metal honey extractor
    Contact him at islandmules@q.com
(He also has composted mule manure available on occasion)
Roger is located over on Bainbridge.

I don't have a photo of Roger's extractor,
but it probably looks sort of like these examples off the Internet...

FENCING
  • a metal fence post ("T" post) pounder (heavy-duty, with D-ring handles welded on courtesy of Erik Schoenberg)
  • a manual metal fence post extractor (makes the job easy!)
  • a manual post hole digger (usually used for wooden fence posts)

The red device pounds in the T-posts
The yellow device pulls them out again
(leverage works!)

Here's Kinley using
the fence post pounder
at the Giving Garden.
Here's what the manual
post hole digger looks like
GROWING EQUIPMENT
  • Grow Lights
4 feet long. The Co-op owns 6 of them.

TRELLISING
  • Spinning Jenny
This is used to pay out coiled wire or irrigation hose during installation,
so you won't have kinks in your lay-out.

  • Earth Anchor driving rod
This is about 3 feet long.
Insert into the top of a "duck-bill" earth anchor
and use a hammer to pound it into the ground.
When the anchor (with trellis brace wire attached) is at the desired depth, just pull up this rod.
The anchor will stay in place.
WOOD CUTTING
  • splitting wedges in various sizes and shapes

WINE MAKING
(For use under supervision by the owner) -
  • Manual grape crusher / destemmer
(No, you don't use your feet. I know, we're no fun at all.)
  • Large manual basket press
  • Wine filter (provide your own filter papers)
  • Wine bottle drying racks
  • Manual wine bottle corker

(L to R) Andy processes some Muller-Thurgau thru the crusher - destemmer; Andy presses the crushed grapes
as Nile & Matilda watch; the "cake" of grape skins left in the press, during disassembly.

FIELD MAINTENANCE
  • Pasture drag chain harrow (~ 7.5 x 7.5 feet)
  • Puller Bear "weed wrenches" (one small, one large).
Here's what the Puller Bears look like.
(Car not included.)

MISCELLANEOUS
This is what the mover's dolly looks like.

Most tools are on loan to Kingston Farm and Garden Co-op members only. (Live traps are the exception.)
Unless contact information accompanies the listing, contact Kathy at 360-809-3467 or curry.kathy@centurytel.net to arrange a loan.

Also contact Kathy if you have tools which you would be willing to loan to other members,
or donate to the Co-op outright.
